Preschool Skating Program Description Ages 2-5yrs

Program Overview: Welcome to our Preschool Skating Program! This fun and engaging program is designed for children aged 2-5 years old who are new to skating or have some basic skills. Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment where young skaters can learn and develop their skating abilities. *Skaters who are age 2 must have a parent/guardian, ages 3-5yrs parent/guardian optional and not required.

Time and Dates:

• Dates: Monday's Jan 6th-Mar 3rd
• Time: 4:40-5:10pm
• Location: Wiarton Arena 526 Taylor Street

Program Structure: Skaters will be divided into two groups based on their skill levels:

• Beginners: For those who are new to skating.
• Movers: For those who have basic skating skills and can move on the ice independently.

Instructional Approach: We use a variety of fun and interactive methods to teach skating, including toys, games, and music. This approach keeps children engaged and excited about learning to skate.

Session Format: Each session is structured to include the following:

• 10-minute Instructional Warm-Up: Skaters will participate in fun and dynamic warm-up activities to get ready for the session.
• 10-minute Skills Lesson: Our experienced instructors will teach fundamental skating skills tailored to each group's ability level.
• 10-minute Game and Play Time: Skaters will have the opportunity to practice their skills through fun games and free play on the ice.

Parental Assistance: For beginners who are nervous and need that extra help, one parent or guardian is allowed on the ice to assist and provide support. Skaters that are age 2yrs must have a parent/guardian with them, ages 3-5yrs parent/guardian is optional and not required. 

Equipment Needed:

• CSA approved hockey helmet with cage
• Skates
• Mittens or gloves
• Warm, non-restrictive clothing that is easy to move in

Join us for a fantastic time on the ice, where your little ones will build confidence, develop their skating skills, and make new friends! Skaters looking for more of a challenge can join the Learn to Play 3-5yrs group intended for skaters learning to play hockey.
